Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic open world RPG by Bethesda Game Studios. Set in the Commonwealth — the ruins of Boston 200 years after nuclear war — you are the Sole Survivor who leaves Vault 111 searching for your kidnapped son. A vast map, settlement building system, hundreds of quests, and a modding community provide hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Open World and Exploration

The Boston Wasteland is filled with abandoned buildings, dungeons, settlements, and dangerous zones. Diamond City within baseball stadium walls, Goodneighbor for outcasts, the Glowing Sea — a radioactive desert. Each location tells a story through environmental details: notes, terminals, skeletons in telling poses. Random events and encounters make every journey unique.

Settlement Building

The building system is Fallout 4's signature innovation. Build and develop settlements across the map: houses, farms, shops, defenses, and power grids. Settlers work, trade, and defend the base. Supply lines connect settlements into a network. Building became a game within the game.

Combat and VATS

First-person shooting was significantly improved over previous entries. The VATS system lets you slow time and target specific body parts. Legendary weapons and armor with unique effects drop from powerful enemies. The weapon modification system lets you customize every firearm.
