The Steam mobile app lets you manage your account, chat with friends, buy games and confirm trades via Steam Guard. The app is available for iOS (15.1+) and Android (7.0+). On devices without Google Play, you can install Steam via the APK file directly from Valve's servers.

Steam Link is a free app for remote game streaming from your PC to another device over a local network. Run the game on your powerful computer and play on your phone, tablet, laptop, or TV with a connected gamepad. The app supports up to 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second with a stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection.

Steam Link works on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux and even Raspberry Pi. For stable performance, a wired connection from your computer to the router and 5 GHz Wi-Fi on the receiving device is recommended.

Steam Chat is a standalone mobile app for chatting with your Steam friends. Unlike the main app, Steam Chat is focused exclusively on text chats and voice channels. The app is lighter, loads faster and uses less data. It's ideal if you only need a messenger without the store and Steam Guard.

Download the SteamSetup.exe file using the link above and run the installer. Choose the installation folder — the default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam. After installation, the client will automatically download updates and prompt you to sign in or create a new account. The entire process takes 2-3 minutes with a stable internet connection.

If Steam won't install — check that your antivirus isn't blocking the download. Some antivirus programs mistakenly flag the Steam installer as a threat. Add SteamSetup.exe to your exceptions list and try again.

Steam System Requirements

For Windows: Windows 7 or newer, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB free disk space. For macOS: version 10.15 Catalina or newer. For Linux: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or a compatible distribution. Steam takes up about 250 MB after installation, but you'll need additional space for downloading games.

Steam on Mobile — App Features

The Steam mobile app is more than just a chat. Through it you can buy games on sale, manage your library, chat with friends, confirm trades via Steam Guard and follow news about your favorite games. The app also works as two-factor authentication — instead of SMS codes, use the built-in Steam Guard authenticator.

On Android without Google Play, install Steam via the APK file. Download the file using the link above, allow installation from unknown sources in your security settings and run the downloaded file. Updates will need to be installed manually in this case.
