Steam Exchange Rates Today — What You Need to Know

Steam uses its own internal exchange rates that differ from official central bank rates. These rates are set by Valve and are not updated daily — changes typically occur every few weeks or months. This is why game prices differ across regions, and knowing the current rate helps you find the best deals.

How Steam Exchange Rates Work

The Steam exchange rate is the coefficient Valve uses to convert game prices from US dollars to other currencies. For example, if a game costs $10 in the US store, its price in other regions depends on the internal rate Valve has set during the last update. This rate can differ significantly from market rates — sometimes in the buyer's favor, sometimes not.

SteamCurrency tracks Steam exchange rates daily and compares them with central bank rates. The difference is displayed in the current rates table — so you can see how much Steam's internal rate is above or below the market.

Steam Currency Calculator

The Steam calculator on our website lets you quickly convert amounts from one Steam currency to another. This is useful when you want to know how much a game would cost when purchased through a different region's wallet. The converter supports all pairs available in Steam: USD, EUR, RUB, KZT, UAH, TRY, BRL, and more.

Regional Pricing and Best Deals

Different Steam regions offer vastly different prices. Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Brazil traditionally have some of the lowest game prices. Knowing the exchange rates helps you determine which region offers the best value for your money.

To purchase in another region, you'll need to top up your Steam wallet in the corresponding currency. Check our payment service ratings where we compare 50+ services by fees, speed, and convenience. Also browse our Steam discounts catalog to compare specific game prices across all regions.

When Do Steam Rates Update?

Valve doesn't follow a fixed schedule for rate updates. Changes can happen at any time, but most often during significant currency market fluctuations. Our service records the daily Steam rate at 00:00 Moscow time, allowing you to track trends on the chart. You can switch between 7 or 30 day periods and see minimum, maximum, and average values.

How to Buy Games Cheaper

Knowing current Steam exchange rates can help you save significantly on game purchases. Key strategies:

  • Follow the Steam sales schedule 2026 — major seasonal sales happen 4 times a year
  • Compare prices across regions — Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Brazil often offer the lowest prices
  • Use the Steam calculator to convert — sometimes the conversion rate makes a "more expensive" region cheaper. To assess your investments, try the Steam account value calculator
  • Monitor Steam server status — payments may not go through during maintenance

Supported Currencies

Steam supports dozens of currencies: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Russian Ruble (RUB), Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT), Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH), Turkish Lira (TRY), Brazilian Real (BRL), Argentine Peso (ARS), Indian Rupee (INR) and many more. On our website, you can switch the base currency in the rates table to see all available conversion pairs.

Each pair can be viewed separately on the chart, with direct link copying or website widget embedding. For developers, we offer a documented API for automated rate retrieval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this website?

Our project is an aggregator of internal exchange rates on the Steam platform.

The currency pair I need is not listed. Can you add it?

Currently, we provide the most popular currency pairs in the community. If you cannot find the one you need, please email us so we can learn about the demand and try to add it.

How much does the internal Steam rate differ from the official rate?

Steam Support says they use information from the "official bank of the country." Overall, the trend is similar. However, when comparing Central Bank rates directly with Steam rates, there is a noticeable difference.

What time period is shown on the chart?

The chart offers two periods: 7 days and 30 days. The monthly chart is shown by default. You can switch periods using the buttons above the chart.

How can I contact you?

For all inquiries, email us at steam-currency@yandex.ru

How can I verify that the rate on this site matches Steam's rate?

Go to Steam → "Account Details""Purchase History" and note your current balance. Add funds (e.g., 100 RUB). After the deposit, subtract the old balance from the new one to get the amount in rubles. The purchase history will also show the amount in dollars. Divide the ruble amount by the dollar amount — this is the current Steam rate. Compare it with the rate on our website.

What does the "USD:RUB" format mean?

This is a currency pair notation. The first currency (before the colon) is the base currency, the second is the quote currency. For example, USD:RUB = 78.31 means 1 US dollar costs 78.31 rubles within the Steam platform.

Which currencies are supported?

The website provides rates for the main base currencies: USD (US Dollar), EUR (Euro), and RUB (Russian Ruble). For each base currency, pairs with other Steam currencies are available — over 20 currency pairs in total.

Why does Steam's internal rate differ from the Central Bank rate?

Steam uses its own conversion rates that do not match the Central Bank rate. Valve relies on data from the "official bank of the country" but sets its own values based on internal pricing policies. The difference can range from 1% to 10% or more — which is why it is useful to track Steam rates separately.

Is there an API for getting rates?

Yes, we provide a REST API for developers. Current rates, change history, and currency pair lists are available. Detailed documentation and pricing can be found on the API for Developers page.

How do I use the calculator?

The calculator is on the main page. Select the base and target currencies, enter the amount, and get the conversion result at the current Steam rate. The calculator uses the latest available rate.

Why doesn't the rate update on Saturday and Sunday?

Based on our observations, Steam updates its internal exchange rates every day except Saturday and Sunday. Updates happen around 01:00 in winter and 00:00 in summer Moscow time. On weekends, the rate set on Friday remains in effect.

How do I embed the rate widget on my website?

Below the chart on the main page, there is a ready-made iframe code for embedding. Click the "Embed on your site" button — the code will be copied to your clipboard. Paste it into your site's HTML. The widget supports parameters: pair (currency pair, e.g. USD:RUB) and theme (light or dark).
