Iceborne is a massive expansion for Monster Hunter World that nearly doubles the content of the base game. The DLC adds the new snowy region Hoarfrost Reach, Master Rank difficulty, dozens of new monsters, and a continuation of the story. Iceborne is widely regarded as one of the best expansions in the Monster Hunter series.

Hoarfrost Reach Region

Hoarfrost Reach is a vast snowy territory featuring ice caves, mountain peaks, and hot springs. The region is comparable in size to all base game locations combined. It hosts unique monsters adapted to the cold climate and contains secret areas waiting to be explored.

Master Rank and New Monsters

Iceborne introduces Master Rank, a new difficulty tier beyond High Rank. Monsters become more aggressive, gain new attacks, and require more advanced equipment. The expansion features over 20 new monsters, including Velkhana, Namielle, Shara Ishvalda, and subspecies of existing creatures.

Clutch Claw Mechanic

Iceborne adds the versatile Clutch Claw tool, allowing hunters to grapple onto monsters. It can be used to weaken body parts, redirect monsters into walls, and perform powerful attacks. Every weapon type received new moves connected to the Clutch Claw, expanding the combat system possibilities.
