Sea of Thieves offers a unique pirate experience: from navigating treasure maps to naval combat with cannons. Every voyage is an unpredictable adventure where encountering another crew may lead to an alliance or a boarding action.
Ships and Crew
Sea of Thieves offers three ship types: the sloop for one to two pirates, the brigantine for three, and the galleon for four. Ship management requires coordination: someone steers, someone adjusts sails, someone fires cannons, someone patches holes. Solo play on a sloop is possible, but co-op fully unlocks the experience.
Quests and Treasure
Trading companies offer different quest types. Gold Hoarders send you after chests using maps. The Order of Souls tasks you with defeating skeleton captains. The Merchant Alliance delivers cargo between outposts. Tall Tales are story-driven quest chains with puzzles and bosses. World events appear on the horizon and attract every ship on the server.
PvP and Naval Combat
Player encounters are the essence of Sea of Thieves. Naval battles unfold with cannons, firebombs, and boarding. A sunk ship drops all its loot for the victor to collect. Diplomacy works too: you can trade, form alliances, or embark on joint adventures.
