R.E.P.O., Co-op Horror About Reclaiming Valuables

R.E.P.O. is a cooperative horror game by semiwork that became a Steam hit in early 2025. The name stands for Reclaimable Energy and Property Oversight — you work for an organization that reclaims valuable equipment from abandoned and dangerous locations. A team of up to six players explores dark buildings, hauls heavy objects, and encounters terrifying monsters.

Gameplay and Physics

The defining feature of R.E.P.O. is its realistic object physics. Valuable items must be physically carried, rolled, and loaded onto the truck. Heavy items require multiple players. The physics add chaos and comedy: items fall down stairs, get stuck in doorways, and roll the wrong way. This creates a unique blend of horror and humor.

Monsters and Dangers

Abandoned buildings are populated by diverse monsters with unique behaviors. Some hunt by sound, others react to movement, and others patrol specific zones. Encountering a monster while hauling a heavy item guarantees panic. The team must decide: abandon the loot and run, or try to save both the cargo and themselves.

Teamwork

R.E.P.O. is designed for co-op with up to six players. Coordination is critical: one scouts, another guards, a third hauls cargo. Proximity-based voice chat enhances the atmosphere: a teammate's scream from another room sounds muffled and eerie.
